Former Courts employee charged in connection with $19 million fraud

A former Courts employee has been arrested and charged in relation to a $19 million fraud discovered at the furniture and appliance retailer.

Courts' parent company, Unicomer Jamaica, said in a media release on Thursday that it recently discovered irregularities within the organisation and promptly engaged law enforcement to conduct a thorough investigation.

"At Unicomer Jamaica, we maintain a steadfast commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards fraudulent activities, and we are resolute in our dedication to taking swift and decisive action whenever suspicious behaviour comes to light, including collaborating closely with authorities to ensure a thorough investigation," Unicomer said.
