St Andrew resident charged for allegedly fatally stabbing man during fight

Detectives have arrested and charged 32-year-old Michael Thompson, otherwise called 'Mafia' and 'Kartel', for the stabbing death of a man at the intersection of Molynes and Waltham Park roads in St Andrew.

The Molynes Road resident is accused of murdering 54-year-old Carlton Smith of Huntsdene Avenue, Kingston 10, on March 21.

The Half-Way Tree police say about 7:00 a.m., a dispute developed between Smith and a man and it became physical.

A knife was reportedly brought into play and used to inflict a wound to the left side of Smith's chest.

The injured man collapsed along the roadway and was transported to the hospital by police, who were summoned to the scene.

He was later pronounced dead.

Following an investigation Thompson was apprehended later the same day.
