The St Catherine-based teacher who is accused of the sexual molestation of a 12-year-old student was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

He is answering to charges of sexual grooming, sexual touching and indecent assault.

Attorney-at-law Kemoy McEkron made the successful bail application before Senior Parish Court Judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller.

Bail was granted on condition that the teacher reports on Mondays and Saturdays to the Spanish Town police and does not contact the complainant or her family.

A fingerprint order was also made and he is to reappear in court on November 8.

It is alleged that the educator took advantage of the complainant while she was at the St Catherine-based primary school.

The child told a family member about the incident and the matter was reported to the police.
