PNP retains Morant Bay Division in St Thomas

The Opposition People's National Party (PNP) has retained the Morant Bay Division in the St Thomas Municipal Corporation.
Following today's by-election, the PNP's Yvonne Rosemarie Shaw, a former mayor, polled 2,096 votes to defeat Winston Downie (1,978) of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP).
The constituency has 11,009 registered voters.
The by-election had a voter turnout on 37 per cent.
The JLP remains in control of the St Thomas municipality.
