New senators sworn in
Three new government senators took the Oath of Allegiance a short while ago during a meeting of the Upper House.
Delano Seiveright, Marlon Morgan and Dr Elon Thompson were sworn in immediately after the Throne Speech which marked the ceremonial opening of Parliament.
As is the custom, the new senators were welcomed by Senate President Tom Tavares Finson and other colleagues from both sides of the political divide.
The new senators who take their seat today in the Upper House have replaced attorney at law Ransford Braham, KC; Matthew Samuda and Delroy Williams who all resigned from the Senate.
Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness who was in the well of Parliament also greeted the new senators.
There remains one senatorial vacancy on the Government side following the recent resignation by businessman Don Wehby.
