Dillon Reid, the St James man implicated in the October 2024 hit-and-run death of Constable Linroy Codner, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

The police say Reid was charged on Friday, February 28 following a Friday, February 21 ruling from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

Reid, otherwise known as ‘CJ’ or ‘Bulby’, of the Blackshop district, is already before the St James Parish Court on other charges in connection with the hit-and-run.

He is answering charges of not having insurance coverage, driving dangerously, having no driver’s licence, failing to stop at the request of a constable, and not stopping after an accident.

When he last appeared in court in January, the investigating officer told the court that the file in relation to the death by dangerous driving charge had been sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution for a formal ruling.

He was bound over to return to court on March 12.

When the case is again called up on that day, the causing death by dangerous driving charge will be added to the case.

Reid surrendered to the police on October 5, 2024, one day after Codner was struck and flung over a precipice by a white Toyota Probox motor car while he was on duty in Granville, St James.

Codner sustained multiple brain injuries.

He subsequently died of his injuries on October 20.
