Policeman dies after being hit by bus involved in funeral procession in St Elizabeth
A policeman today died from injuries sustained after being hit by a Toyota Coaster bus that was travelling as part of a funeral procession in St Elizabeth.
Reports are that about 10:00 a.m., the constable was driving a police service motorcycle along the Pepper Main Road when he came upon a funeral procession travelling in the opposite direction.
It is further reported that the driver of the bus lost control of the vehicle, which struck the policeman’s motorcycle.
The impact extensively damaged the bike and caused the constable to be severely injured.
The injured policeman was taken to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
His name is being withheld pending further investigation.
The bus driver was warned for prosecution.
