Minimum wage to climb to $16,000 on June 1 - Holness
The national minimum wage will increase to $16,000 per 40-hour work week effective June 1 this year.
That’s a 6.7 per cent increase over the current rate of $15,000 per 40-hour work week, according to Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness.
He was speaking on Thursday, during his contribution to the debate on the budget proposed for the upcoming financial year in the House of Representatives.
“This reinforces the Government’s commitment to improve the livelihood of the lowest income earners,” he said during his contribution to the 2025-2026 National Budget Debate in Parliament.
He noted that the upcoming national minimum wage increase was 158 per cent more than $6,200 when his administration took office nine years ago.
