Defending champions Kingston College (KC) stumbled on their share of troubles in the Boys Class One 100m preliminaries after Kyle Bodden false-started and medal-contender Nyrone Wade seemed to suffer an injury right before the line on Tuesday.

They were competing on the first day of the 2025 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium in St Andrew.

Bodden was among a group of four athletes who were shown the red card in heat four as Mona High’s Marcus Gordon, Tacius Golding’s Gregory Esberry, Green Island’s Romario Johnson, and Garvey Maceo’s Rakeesh Jones were also given the marching orders.

In heat seven, Wade was leading the pack but sent the crowd into panic as he abruptly pulled up right before the finish line, falling to the floor after crossing.

Despite this, he was able to finish the race and qualify second in a time of 10.56 seconds, sending a glimmer of hope to KC fans as he walked off the track without help.

The semifinals and final are set for tomorrow.
