Crooked River in Annotto Bay, St Mary under curfew
Sections of Crooked River in Annotto Bay, St Mary, are under a curfew as part of the police's ongoing efforts to address increased criminal activity and enhance public safety.
The curfew began at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, and will end at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
Head of the St Mary Police Division, Acting Superintendent Anthony Wallace, said that the decision to impose the curfew follows recent incidents of violence and gang-related activities threatening the peace of the area.
"The curfew aims to restore order and ensure the safety and well-being of residents," he stated.
The boundaries of the curfew are:
East: Along an imaginary line from Point A located near the Paulwell Texaco gas station, extending to Point B near the entrance to Marking Stone Beach.
South: Along an imaginary line from Point B near the entrance to Marking Stone Beach, continuing to a section of the Gibraltar Housing Scheme.
North: Along an imaginary line from Point C, following a path through a section of Ross Drive in Gibraltar Housing Scheme, returning to Point A at the Paulwell Texaco gas station, thereby closing the perimeter.
During the curfew, all residents are required to remain indoors, unless otherwise authorised by law enforcement officials.
“Police personnel will be strategically deployed to ensure full compliance, provide assistance, and maintain order,” Wallace said.
According to Wallace, the operation will be carried out with full regard for human rights.
He encouraged residents to cooperate with officers to achieve a safe and peaceful community.
