The municipal car park at Falmouth Market is to be retrofitted with security cameras amid concerns about car theft.

The disclosure was made to the media by Mayor of Falmouth Collen Gager.

"We have had a number of cars being stolen from the park. The latest was that of a police officer. Bend Down Market has been going on for years. It is part of the town's legacy, we cannot allow culprits to destroy this legacy. Hence, we will be installing cameras and increase the security detail," said Gager.

The mayor further disclosed that some repair work will also be done.

"We have identified some funds which has been earmarked for repairs. It is not all that is needed but the intention is to increase the comfort level of buyers and sellers," he said.

The market, built by the Port Authority of Jamaica, was opened in 2019.
