Jobs Lane residents stage peaceful demonstration to thank police in case of Kelsey Ferrigon
Several residents of Jobs Lane in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Thursday staged a peaceful gathering to commend the police in the case of the murder of nine-year-old Kelsey Ferrigon.
It came as they celebrated the fatal shooting of Giovanni Ellis, who was listed as a person of interest for the death of Ferrigon, by the police in Clarendon on Monday during an operation to capture him.
Ferrigon was found dead inside a barrel at her home on Jobs Lane, partially nude and bearing signs of physical abuse.
Police believe she was sexually assaulted before being killed.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Councillor for the Hampton Green Division, Theresa Turner-Flynn, said the work of the police must be commended.
"We have staged this peaceful activity to show our support for effective law enforcement and also to ease the tension in the community from the sad act," Turner-Flynn said.
The placard-bearing residents expressed that justice was served for Kelsey.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem that was scheduled for this morning at Archer's Funeral Home along Young Street in Spanish Town was postponed to Monday due to what was cited as an administrative hiccup.
