Man killed by police in Clarendon

A man identified only as "Jazz" was fatally shot by police in Longbough, Clarendon, this morning after he allegedly challenged the team with an illegal gun.

It's reported that about 1:00 a.m. an operation was being conducted in Longbough when "Jazz" pointed a gun at the police and he was shot and injured.

The police say they seized a Taurus nine-millimetre pistol affixed with a magazine containing seven cartridges from him.

He was taken to the Percy Junor Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe into the incident.
