St Mary farmer arrested following seizure of over $6M worth of ganja
A St Mary farmer, 28-year-old Ranneil Hoilett, is in police custody following a ganja bust on Wednesday in the Three Hills area of the parish.
Police sources say that ganja weighing 408 pounds with a street value of $6,120,000 was discovered at a house shortly after 5 p.m.
The police say they were responding to a report in the area when a man was seen acting suspiciously.
"The man was approached, questioned and further investigation led the officers to a nearby house," Acting Superintendent of Police Anthony Wallace, Head of the St Mary Police Division, explains.
"Upon entering the premises, the team discovered multiple rooms within the house filled with ganja plants hanging from both the walls and ceiling—an apparent operation for drying and processing the illegal substance.
"As the investigation progressed, three motor vehicles were also seized in connection with the find, and are believed to be linked to the illicit operation," Wallace adds.
Wallace says the police remain committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade and ensuring the safety and security of all communities across the island.
