Caution being advised along Yallahs main road in St Thomas
The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising motorists to exercise caution when travelling along the Yallahs main road in St Thomas amid road works.
The NWA says the works are aimed at securing some of the new installations, while making the corridor safer for the travelling public.
Manager, Communication and Customer Services at NWA, Stephen Shaw, says that contractors working on the multibillion-dollar Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project will be doing repair work.
The work involves repaving and will be done on the near nine kilometres stretch from the Yallahs Bridge to Pamphret.
Shaw says that as part of this final bit of work under this section of the corridor, valve boxes are being raised to ensure seamless manoeuvring by motorists.
The boxes, once raised, will be above the road surface.
Motorists are therefore being advised to reduce speed along the road section and obey the posted warning signs.
The works are slated to be completed by the middle of July.
