Three men fatally shot in separate police operations in Westmoreland
A total of three men were fatally shot in two separate incidents with the police in Westmoreland this morning.
Both incidents happened in Bethel Town.
In one case, two men were shot during an alleged confrontation with the police and two firearms were seized, Commander for police's Area One, Assistant Commissioner of Police Glenford Miller, told The Gleaner.
In the second incident, another man was shot dead.
Miller was not in a position to provide further details on both incidents.
Westmoreland was a hotbed of lawlessness last year with 100 murders, primarily sparked by feuding between gangs.
For 2025, the parish has seen a 52 percent reduction in major crimes, the most significant decline across all police divisions.
