Pryce vows to bring an end to a 'dark 114 months' in St Catherine East Central
Vowing to turn the tables on his opponent in the September 3 general election, Raymond Pryce, the People's National Party (PNP) candidate for St Catherine East Central said the strength of the party did not turn out in the 2020 national polls.
Pryce charged that his opponent has found himself facing the electorate in the constituency with 114 months of broken promises.
He said the incumbent member of parliament Alando Terrelonge had allegedly received from the state coffers more than $3 billion through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and other government programmes "to fix drains and maintain them, build sidewalks and maintain them and make sure every citizen have direct access to the National Water Commission".
Pryce said instead of opening training centres, his opponent has closed one in Watson Grove.
Beaming with confidence, Pryce said when the ballots are counted on election day the PNP would be declared the Government of Jamaica and St Catherine East Central would have been rescued from the "dark 114 months of representation by someone who understands the performative arts but does not understand representative leadership".
Pryce said for the last 60 months he has been embedded in the constituency. "I have walked into communities where they say 'but anno politics time yet, how come you reach?'"
However, the PNP candidate said he has listened to the people, learned from them and is now in a better position now than he was before.
"In 2025, measure for measure, pound for pound, he has been outfoxed, his dependency therefore is for outside help."
In the 2020 general election, Terrelonge beat back the challenge of Pryce winning with a margin of 2,002 votes.
There are more than 27,686 electors in the constituency.
