Two St Andrew taxi operators charged over stolen Toyota Hiace bus
Two St Andrew taxi operators have been charged for allegedly stealing a parked Toyota Hiace bus.
Charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy are 31-year-old Jermaine Knight and 22-year-old Shai Smythe.
Reports from the Half-Way Tree police are that on the afternoon of Monday, August 10, the complainant parked his Toyota Hiace bus along Burlington Avenue in St Andrew and went to an event.
Upon his return at about 10:05 p.m., he discovered that the vehicle was missing.
The police were alerted, and a report was subsequently filed.
On Tuesday, August 11, Knight and Smythe were apprehended by lawmen along the Bog Walk main road in St Catherine while they were allegedly effecting repairs to the stolen vehicle.
Both men were charged on Monday, August 18, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of their attorneys.
A court date is to be set for the men.
