Fire leaves family homeless in Portland
A family of four is now homeless after fire of unknown origin gutted their six bedroom concrete house at Anchovy Gardens in Portland on Saturday while they were at church worshipping.
Two fire units, one from Port Antonio and the other from Buff Bay, some 18 miles away, along with a private water trucking unit fought the blaze, which started shortly before 2 p.m.
Firefighters said that the fire destroyed furniture and electrical appliances.
Firefighters are searching for clues to determine how the fire started. It is not yet known if the building was insured.
