A taxi man was fatally shot by a licensed firearm holder in the vicinity of the Kingston Public Hospital this morning.

Commander of the police's Area Four, Senior Superintendent Michael Phipps, said he received reports about the incident around 10:15 am.

The man was identified by relatives at the scene as 44-year-old Carlo Ellis, who operated on the Jones Town taxi route.

Reports are that Ellis was shot during an altercation with another taxi man, who is reportedly an ex-police officer.

The other taxi man has reportedly turned himself in to custody.
