Search ongoing for fisherman who went missing at sea in Hanover
The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) says efforts are ongoing in the search and rescue of a fisherman who went missing at sea in Hanover.
The JDF says Granville Reid departed the Lances Bay area for a fishing expedition in an area known locally as “Dolphins Bank,” on Friday, October 3, and was scheduled to return to mainland Jamaica by sundown on the same day.
However, he has not been seen or heard from since.
It says that since then, numerous search and rescue operations have been mounted by its Maritime Air and Cyber Commands, along with the Marine police and members of the local fishing community, to locate Reid, but to no avail.
The United States Coast Guard District Seven (USCG D7) has also helped in the effort.
The search continues with the JDF encouraging fishers and others to be vigilant and report any sign of the missing fisherman immediately.
