The country is expected to hear today the number of Jamaicans who have died as a result of Hurricane Melissa.
This was disclosed by Minister of Local Government and Community Development, Desmond McKenzie, at a Jamaica House press briefing today.
“I’ve been hearing some stories that I don’t want to repeat,” McKenzie told the briefing, while noting that the police have not confirmed those reports.
However, he said he anticipates that the death toll will rise.
The Government has confirmed four deaths in St Elizabeth so far, with The Gleaner being told of four more in Westmoreland.
