Central Village man accused of collecting $2.4 million in house sale scam
Twenty-four-year-old Jaheim Douglas of Central Village in St Catherine has been charged with obtaining money by means of false pretence for selling a house he does not own.
Reports from the Central Village police are that between October 2024 and April 2025 Douglas purported to be the proprietor of an unoccupied house in his community.
He reportedly informed a man that the house was for sale and allegedly collected $2,400,000 from the man as payment for the property.
The man later made several attempts to obtain substantial documentation for the property from Douglas; however, Douglas refused to produce the documents, according to the police.
A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched.
Douglas later turned himself in to the police.
He was subsequently charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is being finalised.
