Update | Foreign affairs ministry clarifies Ariel Bowen's role at New York consulate
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has clarified that Ariel Bowen is being deployed to the Consulate-General of Jamaica in New York as Officer-in-Charge.
A previous Gleaner report had stated that she was taking up the post of interim consul-general.
However, in a media release on Friday, the ministry said that Bowen, who is Acting Under-Secretary for Diaspora, Consular and Protocol and Consular Affairs, will support continuity of operations while the Government proceeds with the established process for appointing a new consul-general.
Bowen's redeployment follows the recent death of former Consul-General Alsion Marie Wilson.
