St Catherine man pleads guilty to theft of copper wire from UC Rusal

A 21-year-old man from St Catherine has pleaded guilty to stealing copper wires valued at $750,000 from bauxite company UC Rusal.
Davian Bailey, of Byndloss district, pleaded guilty to simple larceny and malicious destruction of property during an appearance before the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.
Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne ordered a social enquiry report to assist with sentencing. She remanded Bailey until February 16, 2026.
According to court records, on December 1, company security personnel on patrol observed Bailey cutting wires at the Number 4 Well in Banbury District, St Catherine.
He was caught in the act with several feet of copper wire and a hacksaw blade found inside a bag he was carrying.
Bailey was handed over to the Linstead police, who subsequently charged him.
