Man fatally shot in police operation in Spanish Town

An investigation has been launched into the fatal shooting of a man during a police operation in Spanish Town, St Catherine early Christmas morning.
The deceased has been identified by his alias ‘Andy Bob’, a resident of McVicker’s Lane in Spanish Town.
The police report that sometime before 7:00 a.m. on December 25, police personnel were conducting an operation in the community and went to a premises occupied by the now-deceased man
The police say the team entered the dwelling and were allegedly challenged.
The police reportedly took defensive action and discharged their firearms, during which the man was shot and injured.
An illegal firearm was reportedly seized from him.
He was subsequently assisted to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has since launched a probe into the incident.
