Six charged over alleged theft from storehouse in St Ann

Sleuths assigned to the St Ann Criminal Investigations Branch have charged six men in connection with a theft at a storehouse along Stand Fast Road in Brown’s Town, St Ann in November.

Charged are 62-year-old Barrington Brown; 42-year-old Edwando Hill, a taxi operator; 33-year-old Nicoy Rowe, otherwise called ‘Scubby’, a taxi operator; 32-year-old Ansel 'Blacks' Pryce, and 19-year-old Akil Virgo, otherwise called ‘Little Man’ - all from Brown's Town.

The sixth accused is 20-year-old Kevin Hall from Alexandria, St Ann.

They have been charged with storehouse breaking and larceny, receiving stolen property, accessory after the fact, and conspiracy to storehouse breaking and larceny.

The incident reportedly occurred sometime between November 25 and November 26, the police say.

The police report that about 2:30 p.m. November 25, a man securely locked the storeroom and left the premises. When he returned the following morning, he discovered that the storeroom had been broken into.

The police were alerted and, upon arrival, observed that the padlock to a metal door had been cut to gain entry to the storeroom. Investigators also reported finding holes in the fence line, which were allegedly used by the culprits to access the property.

An investigation was launched, leading to several police operations in the Brown’s Town and Alexandria areas of St Ann.

During these operations, law enforcers reportedly recovered several items that were stolen during the break-in.

The men were taken into custody and subsequently charged following the recording of caution statements on Monday.
