A man, who is a teacher, has been taken into police custody for allegedly pulling a gun on his girlfriend during an argument at his home in Greater Portmore, St Catherine.
Police say the educator is being held on suspicion of possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and assault at common law.
Reports from the Portmore police are that on Wednesday, the man was at home with family members when a dispute developed between him and the woman.
During the argument, he reportedly shoved the woman several times.
It is further reported that he then went inside the house and returned to the woman with a black handgun tucked into his waistband.
The man reportedly removed the weapon from his waistband and pointed it at the woman.
A police report was subsequently filed, and an investigation was launched.
Cops later conducted a search of the man’s premises, during which, according to the police, a loaded revolver and an imitation glock pistol with five imitation cartridges were reportedly found.
He was arrested.
His name is being withheld pending further police investigations.
