Five men were arrested on Monday following a police operation at an apartment near Barbican in St Andrew, where investigators seized multiple electronic devices and luxury vehicles.

The investigation is reportedly linked to alleged lottery scamming activities.

According to the St Andrew North police, the men were inside the apartment on King's Drive when, upon the advance of officers, an object was thrown through a window. The item was retrieved and found to be a key for a BMW.

During a search of the premises, police reportedly discovered several “lead sheets” and a key for a Mercedes-Benz hidden inside the apartment, the police say.

Electronic devices seized include 10 Apple iPhones, two Android phones, an Apple iPad, a MacBook, and an HP laptop, along with a Flow SIM card. Inspection of one of the cellphones reportedly revealed additional lead sheets containing the names and addresses of overseas residents.

Three motor vehicles were also seized for safekeeping: a black Mercedes-Benz, a white BMW 4 Series, and a white BMW X6.

The police told The Gleaner that the men were arrested on reasonable suspicion of possession of identification information and other related offences. They remain in custody pending further investigation.

The Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch continues to probe the matter.
