Mayor of Falmouth, Councillor Collen Gager.

Twenty notices were issued to residents in a gated community in Trelawny following an operation by the municipality’s revenue department targeting building breaches and unauthorised commercial activities, the mayor said.

The operation in Florence Hall was conducted by the revenue department of the Trelawny Municipal Corporation.

"We had some concerns about building breaches in the community," explained Mayor Collen Gager, who is also the chairman of the corporation.

According to Gager, the alleged breaches include expanding buildings without submitting building plans to the municipality.

"Residents turned their homes into commercial businesses including a supermarket and a garage," Gager disclosed.

He said 20 notices were served on residents who are expected to come into our office to pay for breaches and also make their situations right.

"The operation was driven by a need to collect more revenue. We have a target which I am not ready to release," the mayor added.
