Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne ordered that two persons charged after a gun was allegedly found in a St Catherine motor car receive urgent medical attention.
They accused are 42-year-old Christine Lewis of Ontario, Canada, and 24-year-old Nakibo Foster of Quarry Hill, St Catherine.
Their attorneys Shelldon Campbell and Bradley Medwynter told the St Catherine Parish Court that their clients are suffering from illnesses.
Medwynter told the court Foster had been shot 11 times before the incident and is still healing. Campbell said Lewis suffers from endometriosis and needs urgent medical attention.
Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne ordered both remanded but instructed authorities to ensure they receive urgent medical care.
The case is scheduled to be mentioned in the High Court Division of the Gun Court on April 17.
Police allege that around 5 p.m. on March 6, they intercepted a Toyota Probox in Portmore, St Catherine, driven by Lewis with two male passengers.
One male passenger reportedly jumped from the vehicle and escaped.
A search of the car revealed a high-powered weapon with a magazine containing six rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
Lewis and Foster were arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
