Trough producing rains and thunderstorms across Ja, expected to linger into next week – Met office

The Meteorological Service of Jamaica has indicated that the unstable weather being experienced across the country is due to a trough.
The agency says it is expected to linger through to the middle of next week and is forecast to produce cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, over sections of most parishes, especially eastern and south-central parishes, from early Saturday through Tuesday.
Additionally, strong winds associated with a low-level jet stream are forecast, especially across southern parishes, beginning Sunday.
Fishers and other marine interests, especially those operating inshore and offshore along the south coast, are being advised to exercise extreme caution during this period, as sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms beginning Saturday and due to strong, gusty winds beginning Sunday.
The agency says it will continue to monitor these systems.
