A court date is being finalised.
A 28-year-old woman employed as a supervisor at a business establishment in Burnt Savannah, Frome, Westmoreland, has been charged for allegedly stealing cash from her employer and falsifying records to conceal the theft.
Nicole Lewis, otherwise called 'Nicky', of Red Hills district in Burnt Savannah, was on Thursday charged with larceny as a servant.
According to the Frome police, Lewis was entrusted with supervising the cash register at the business.
It is further reported that between April and June, the business owner noticed unexplained losses in the company's revenue.
On Sunday, June 28, after reviewing CCTV footage and cash register records, the owner allegedly observed Lewis removing cash from the register without authorisation and placing it in her handbag.
It is further alleged that Lewis manipulated cash register transactions by entering false transactions that did not accurately reflect the cash removed, in an effort to conceal the shortages.
The matter was reported to the police on Thursday, July 2, prompting an investigation.
Later that day, Lewis was apprehended at her workplace after she was pointed out to the police.
She was subsequently charged.
Her court date is being finalised.
