A 56-year-old Portland woman has been charged for allegedly breaking into a church and stealing items.

She is Jane Brown, a vendor of Stony Hill in Ranza, who is charged with sacrilege and receiving stolen property.

Brown was arrested following an investigation into the theft of two speakers valued at approximately $80,000.

Reports from the Port Antonio police are that at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, a man securely locked the church before leaving.

Upon his return, he discovered that one Imax speaker and one Blue-sonik speaker were missing, according to the police.

The matter was reported to the police, and an investigation was launched.

Brown was subsequently arrested and charged on Thursday, August 20, following a question-and-answer interview.

She is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, September 29.
