Dacres and Facey finish second at Oslo Diamond League

OSLO, Norway:

Jamaica’s two athletes at the Bislett Games, the fifth IAAF Diamond League qualifying meeting of 2017, both had to settle for second place finishes.

Fedrick Dacres was second in the men’s discus, while Simone Facey was runner-up in the women’s 200m.

Dacres achieved his best ever placing at a senior global competition with his throw of 67.10m on his third attempt.

The event was won by Sweden’s Daniel Stahl with a throw of 68.06m, while Belgium’s Philip Milanov took third with a season best (SB) effort of 66.39m.

Facey clocked a SB of 22.77 seconds and was awarded second following the disqualification of Netherlands’ Dafne Schippers, who had crossed the line first in 22.31.

Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast was moved up to first with her time of 22.74 (SB) with German’s Gina Luckenkemper third in a SB equalling 23.04.
