Penn Relays 2018 | GC Foster, Utech hunt titles on Friday
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania:
GC Foster College and the University of Technology (Utech) will be hoping for Championships of America titles on Friday, following preliminary round action in their respective relays on Thursday's opening day of competition for college female athletes at the 124th Penn Relays.
The quartet of Shantea Deer, Tissana Hickling, Sashalee Forbes and Ashley Williams, clocked 44.87 seconds in winning their heat in the college women's 4x100 metres relay, to be the second fastest qualifiers going into the final at 11: 55 a.m. Jamaica time.
Auburn University, which clocked 44.02 seconds are the fastest qualifiers. The Auburn team included three Jamaicans in Renee Shaw, formerly of Excelsior, Joneille Smith formerly of Wolmer's and former St. Jago High standout, Natalliah Whyte.
Utech are also the second fastest qualifier going into tomorrow's 4x400 metres college final at 4:40 p.m., as they clocked 3:38.73, behind winners Duke University, 3:37.53.
