Mindley bags five as Volcanoes all out for 137

TAROUBA, Trinidad:

Jamaica Scorpions fast bowler Marquino Mindley utilized the seaming conditions at the Brian Lara stadium to bag five wickets as the Windward Islands Volcanoes were dismissed for 137 in their first innings at tea in their West Indies Championship third round match on day one.

Mindley, bowling from the media centre end, picked up two more wickets to add to his three wickets before lunch to finish with five for 20 from 12 overs.

The right arm seamer sent back Kenneth Dember for 11 then bowled Shermon Lewis for a duck.

Compatriot Nicholson Gordon was also in scintillating form with the ball, bagging four wickets for 43 runs from his 16.1 overs. The extra ball in his spell accounted for the wicket of the innings' top scorer Keron Cottoy, who went for an even 50 runs.

The Jamaica Scorpions are yet to reply.

Over at the Queens Park Oval, The Guyana Harpy Eagles reached tea at 116 for two, with Tevin Imlach going on to get 53. Tagnerine Chanderpaul is still at crease on 35.

At the Diego Martin Sports Complex, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes have progressed to 187 for three with Kieron Powell not out on 84. Amir Jangoo is also unbeaten on 55.
