Rich Mouttet Mile set for December 3 at Caymanas Park
The inaugural staging of the richest race in the history of Caymanas Park, the Mouttet Mile, which carries a purse money of $18.75 million, will be held on December 3.
The new signature race day will feature two trophy races, the Mouttet Mile Invitational and the Peter Stewart Memorial Plate, which will have purse money of $3.75 million.
The invitational mile race will feature a maximum field of 16 three-year-olds and up with four spaces reserved for overseas-based runners. The secondary feature will be confined to horses in the Overnight Allowance group.
Solomon Sharpe, executive chairman of Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), who made the announcement during a virtual press conference yesterday, said his organisation is looking forward to two very exciting races.
“Coming on the heels of the recent installation of a new state of the art digital screen at Caymanas Park, I’m especially excited that we’re once again raising the bar and creating a world-class experience for our punters by bringing international racing back to the Park,” said Sharpe.
The Mouttet Mile Invitational and Peter Stewart Memorial Plate will offer a mouth-watering treat for the fans as they will be able to watch Jamaica’s best thoroughbreds all vying for the very attractive purse,” he said.
Sharpe added the Mouttet Mile is the type of experience that will contribute to bringing excitement, attractive purses, glitz and glamour to Caymanas Park.
He pointed out that the race day will also see the return of infield racing experience, adding lustre to an already loaded final quarter of racing at the Park.
“Everyone who comes out to the Mouttet Mile will be treated to our ruby carpet, sumptuous food provided by Jamaica’s best caterers, top shelf liquor and luxury décor with our new state-of-the-art digital tote board as the backdrop,” Sharpe said.
“These are just a few of the elements that will make the infield experience one of the most exciting, not to be missed, entertainment experiences of the Christmas season” he said.
