CG2022 | Jamaican misses bronze in men's long jump
Jamaica’s Shawn-D Thompson narrowly missed a medal in the final of the men’s long jump, after South Africa’s Jovan Van Vuuren clipped him by a single centimetre at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England on Thursday.
Thompson, on his third-round effort, leapt to a season best, 8.05 metres, which was his only jump over the eight metres mark in the final.
Bahamian Laquan Nairn won the event with an 8.08 metres jump, followed by India’s Sreesankar Sreesankar, who picked up the silver medal by also jumping 8.08 with Van Vuuren completing the medal spots by claiming bronze in 8.06.
