Reigning national champion Lamara Distin failed to progress beyond qualification in the women's high jump at the Paris Olympics.

The 24-year-old had three unsuccessful attempts clearing the bar at 1.92m.

Distin had her sights on becoming the country's first Olympic medal holder in the event in a season where she has soared as high as 2.00 metres for the first time in her career.

She made her first major global senior team in 2022, when she broke the national record with a height of 1.97 metres.

At the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon, she made the final on her first attempt, finishing fifth before securing her first major title at the Commonwealth Games later that year.

Last year she finished fourth against a strong field at the World Championship final in Budapest.
