Jamaica Squash (JS) has declared that all is in place for the start of the 46th All Jamaica Junior and Senior Squash Championships at its home venue at the Liguanea Club today.
The two-day Juniors section will serve off at 9:00 a.m. with three matches on courts two, three and four. The Juniors will compete in the U15, U17 and U19 age groups.
The first three concurrent matches to start the championships will see Jayden Emery taking on Christian Bell (U15), Davendra Stoddart vs Ethan Cheiran (U15) and Rihana Stoddart against Marley Price (U17).
The defending champions in the Juniors section for male and female categories are back to take on the challengers, and to retain the titles they won in some epic battles last year. Defending champions Ethan Miller and Mehar Trehan have both improved their games since last year’s finals and are raring to see off their challengers.
Miller is expected to face challenges from Ethan Williams and Judah Tavares-Finson, while Trehan’s challengers include Priya Stoddart and Elle Wilson.
This year’s competition is expected to be very good because the players have been gearing up for it and some of them have been sharpening their skills while playing in the KPMG Squash League which started in February. That has taken a break for the All Jamaica Squash Championships which pits the very best Jamaican players locally and overseas against each other.
The All Jamaica Squash Championships is a must-watch event because of the high-quality matches on display in the various categories and this year is expected to be no different.
The seniors will begin their competition on Tuesday with the finals scheduled for next Saturday. The Masters will start theirs on March 25. All the matches will be played at the Liguanea Club in Kingston.
