Top Jamaican netball goalkeeper Shamera Sterling-Humphrey will spend another three seasons with Australian club Adelaide Thunderbirds after extending her contract.

The Sunshine Girls captain, who helped Jamaica retain their Commonwealth Games silver this summer, will enter her ninth season with the Thunderbirds in 2027.

This follows her becoming the club’s fifth premiership captain in its 30-year history in 2026.

Recognised as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, Sterling-Humphrey has amassed an impressive list of accolades, including being named the Thunderbirds’ Club Champion three times.

She is also one of only four athletes to have won the coveted Super Netball MVP award since the competition’s inception in 2017.

In her first season as co-captain in 2026, Sterling-Humphrey returned from maternity leave and immediately resumed her place among the elite defenders in the world’s premier netball competition.

The Jamaican topped the league for deflections with 107 and defensive rebounds with 37, while finishing second to teammate Latanya Wilson for intercepts with 37.

She also led the competition in blocks with 15.
