Miss USA 2019 dies after jumping from apartment building
Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst has died in an apparent suicide in Manhattan.
She was 30.
New York police report that Kryst jumped from a Manhattan apartment building on Sunday morning.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement, her family said they were in devastation and great sorrow.
“Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined," said a spokesperson in a statement.
Kryst was an attorney and was also a host on EXTRA.
"As a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on,” said the spokesperson.
On Instagram, @officialmissuniversejamaica has extended condolences to her family and loved ones.
"We are deeply saddened by the shocking news of Miss USA 2019, Cheslie Kryst's passing," read a section of the post.
