CMI receives ISO Certification

The Caribbean Maritime Institute (CMI) has been conferred with the coveted International Standards Organisation (ISO) 9001:2008 certification by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Inc.

CMI now enjoys the elite status of being the only International Maritime Organisation (IMO) approved maritime education and training institution in Jamaica. The institution received the certification last Wednesday.

The ISO certification is an international stamp of approval and recognition of excellence in delivery and administration of the institute's programmes in the Standards of Training, Certification and Watch Keeping (STCW) 95, IMO courses and other academic offerings such as:

  • MSc in logistics and supply chain management
  • BSc in logistics and supply chain management
  • BSc in cruise shipping and tourism management
  • BSc in port management
  • BSc in international shipping
  • BSc in security administration and management
  • BSc in industrial systems

The CMI is pursuing further local and international certification and accreditation to become the indisputable maritime, logistic and engineering centre of excellence for training, research and consultancy. CMI will continue to partner with Maritime Authority of Jamaica, University Council of Jamaica and NCTVET the primary local quality assurance organisations, to provide a unique quality educational product in and for the maritime sector.
