Sportsmax launches 2010-2011 BPL season

Regional sports cable firm Sportsmax has joined forces with corporate giants The Gleaner Company, LIME, Guiness and Justbet to provide coverage of the 2010-2011 season of the world's most popular football league, the Barclays Premier League (BPL), to over 25 countries across the region.
The announcement was made yesterday afternoon during a media launch, which took place minutes before the kick-off between BPL giants Liverpool and Arsenal, which was beamed on the massive 216" screen at the Sportsmax Zone.
The venue, which proved extremely popular among football fans during the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, was seeing action for the last time as it will soon be disassembled.
Live coverage
Sportsmax's live coverage of the BPL runs from August 14, 2010 until Sunday May 22, 2011 when the last round of games is scheduled to be played. The subscription outlet will beam six live and exclusive games each weekend to 25 Caribbean territories on its flagship station and also on Fox Soccer Plus, which is a part of Sportsmax's 'Maxpak' subscription package.
Tanya Lee, regional marketing manager for Sportsmax, was extremely pleased with the partnership and was certain that the partners would benefit from their association with the coverage.
"Sportsmax is happy to bring to Caribbean viewers our eighth season of showing the world's top football league ... with record viewership numbers all over the world. All the associated brands will no doubt benefit tremendously from this association," Lee said.
"We are happy to have everyone on board. there is no greater passion than football in the Caribbean, so we raise a toast to this partnership," she added.
Continued expansion
Guiness brand manager for Northern, Latin America and the Caribbean, Gareth Geddes, said that Sportsmax's penetration throughout the Caribbean; and his brand's continued expansion in the region will allow both entities to achieve great things together.
"Some of the biggest fans of the Barclays Premier League are right here in the Caribbean; and many of those viewers are consumers of Guinness," said Geddes.
"Guiness is in 13 licensed brewery markets throughout the Caribbean and imported to many others, and we are confident this partnership with Sportsmax will yield great results for us and, most importantly, the fans."
