Last year's beaten finalist Manchester High School added another chapter to their domi-nance of Zone G of the 2010 ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday afternoon when they defeated Knox 1-0 in their top-of-the-table clash at Knox College.
The Barry Watson-coached Manchester team which now sports an impressive eight wins and one draw from their nine games, has now moved five points clear of Knox who were relegated to third place on 19 points. Samuda Johnson scored the game's lone goal.
In the other two Zone G games, Spaldings High blanked Porus 5-0 to move into second place on 20 points while Christiana clipped Cross Keys 2-1 to move into fourth place on 17 points.
In Zone H, the Donovan Duckie-coached Clarendon College made it six wins from six starts with a 1-0 victory against Vere Technical. The winners are joint zone leaders with Edwin Allen, who had a 2-0 win against Claude McKay.
Players banned
Meanwhile, following a disciplinary hearing yesterday, six players, who were accused of inappropriate behaviour, which marred two recent daCosta Cup games, were found guilty and slapped with lengthy bans by the Disciplinary Committee of the Inter-Secondary School Sports Association.
The six players are Davion Graham and Aldane Kennedy of Petersfield High School; and Curtis Francis, Shane Thompson, Tevon Thomas and Jemar Miller of Brimmervale High School. They have all been banned for the remainder of the season.
The competition will continue this afternoon at 3:30 with the penultimate round of matches in zones A, B, C, D, E, F, I and L.
While there are no major clashes in the offering, the games involving St James High, St. Mary Technical, Munro College, Glenmuir, Charlemont, Buff Bay High, Paul Bogle and St Thomas Technical, who are all poised to qualify for the inter-zone round, will be closely watched.
However, schools like Cornwall College, Muschett, Garvey Maceo and Denbigh High are all locked in crucial games they cannot afford to lose.
