No luck for Jamaica's Cambridge in Bermuda
HAMILTON, Bermuda, CMC: Veteran Jamaican Delroy Cambridge trailed in 15th place behind Canadian Billy Walsh, who won The Annual Gosling's Invitational in a three-way play-off at Belmont Hills.
Cambridge, 61, a regular visitor to the island, never got in a blow, firing rounds of 74, 71, 70 and 73 for an eight-over-par total of 292, 12 shots off the pace.
Walsh battled wind, rain, and near darkness to win the tournament in thrilling fashion on Thursday.
Walsh triumphed on the third extra hole of the three-way play-off against overnight leader Kirk Hanefeld, an American, and Canadian Zoltan Veress, who had topped the leader board for the first two rounds. All three carded four-under 276.
A par was enough to seal the win for Walsh, who had overhauled Hanefeld after the American began the day eight-under par and five shots clear of the Canadian.
For a while it looked like there might be a four-way play-off, with Bermuda amateur Terrance Daniels matching the professionals shot for shot in the closing stages.
Going down the 18th fairway, Daniels needed only a par to finish his tournament at four-under-par alongside Walsh, Hanefeld and Veress.
However, his approach to the final green hit the pin and he ended up three-putting for a bogey.
