Zim Integrated Shipping Services, through its local agent, Carib Star Shipping Limited, recently held its Zim Listens 2011 Customer Forum.

The aim of the forum was to give customers the opportunity to engage representatives of the line on the needs of the local import/export market.

Among the changes customers asked the line to consider, are changes to regional routes and business requirements, as they believe that these changes would assist local importers in addressing the challenging economic climate. Line representatives agreed to consider route changes as soon as the appropriate research and studies are undertaken.

Kimani Peterkin, marketing manager for Carib Star, reaffirmed ZIM's commitment to Jamaica, noting that the line would explore all the possibilities to better serve the customer.

Customers who participated in the forum include Grace Kennedy, Red Stripe, J. Wray & Nephew, Wisynco, Boss Furniture, Greif Jamaica, The Gleaner Company Limited, Quality Inc, Ministry of Agriculture, Spanish Grain Stores, Camcorp, Courts Jamaica Limited and Singer Jamaica Limited.

Zim was represented by a local team headed by Carib Star's general manager, Captain Diedrich Suendermann; marketing manager, Kimani Peterkin and traffic manager, Geneve Barnett Fraser. International representatives were Amos Aloni, vice-president, Caribbean and Central America Services and Torsten Tyralla, district commercial manager.

ZIM has been a loyal partner to the Jamaican importer and exporter for 39 consecutive years, a mark that is unrivalled in the industry by any other global carrier.
