JNA celebrates in style
The Jamaica Nationals Association (JNA), Jamaica's premier organisation in Washington D.C., commenced the festive season with the staging of its annual Christmas party. Members and friends gathered at the Comfort Inn Hotel in Beltsville, Maryland, last Saturday, to celebrate.
The scrumptious meal served, included sorrel drink and fruit cake, reminders of what those in attendance would be missing in their homeland.
Cultural items were presented by Moye Stephenson Fairweather. The outgoing president, Claudette Henry thanked members and supporters of the organisation for supporting her vision during her two-year tenure. She also introduced the incoming board which will take office on January 1 - president Milton Nicholas, Vice-president Jennifer Asher; treasurer Enid McKenzie, assistant treasurer Lunette Martin and recording secretary Jennifer Wilson.
Master of ceremonies for the evening was past-president Maureen Wallace. Members and guests danced the night away to the music of Jamarich Sounds.
