RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited, the retailer of the Shell-branded service stations, hosted its annual Dealer Summit awards on March 14 at the Secrets Hotel and Spa, Montego Bay.

Science, Technology, Energy and Mining Minister Phillip Paulwell, in his message to the more than 200 attendees, commended the company for choosing Jamaica to invest in and do business, stating, "I am excited and encouraged by your plans to introduce to the Jamaican market your premium products: ULTRA TEC gasolene, and present the market with an additive for diesel customers."

Patrick Hylton, group managing director, National Commercial Bank, in welcoming the brand to the island, commented on the impressive track record of the RUBiS brand in other regions including Africa, Europe and the Eastern Caribbean, and stated his confidence in the brand's commitment to Jamaica.

"Tonight's theme, 'Reaching Further, Achieving More', embodies a direction we all must embrace in Jamaica. No one rises to low expectations, and many of the great feats and accomplishments we have witnessed in our lifetime came about as a result of individual desires to reach further and achieve more and to surpass the boundaries imposed only by what could be conceived in the minds of people," Hylton said.

Dr Claire Nelson, guest speaker, challenged Donald Gary, president of RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited, to employ strategic foresight planning to promote a culture-centred growth to guide the operational design supporting the organisation.

The coveted Dealer of the Year Award 2013 was won by Lloyd Fraser, Lucea service station dealer, who will be Jamaica's flag-bearer to the Shell Global Summit in Barcelona, Spain, in May. This is Jamaica's first time qualifying for this invitation. The winner will receive more than US$6,000 dollars in cash and prizes, J$200,000 compliments of RUBiS Energy Jamaica and J$200,000 from NCB as well as RUBiS Dealer of the Year crystal trophy and two motorcycles to be raffled (one for the site staff and one to be to customers).

Jamaica's outstanding performance in the Mystery Motorist Programme went to Denver Howell and the Morant Bay team. It's the only gold performing site in the Latin America and the Caribbean Region.
